The client
Paigam-E-Jagat publishes regional and national news in English, Hindi and Punjabi, on the web and in Android and iOS apps.
The challenge
A multilingual newsroom publishes the same kinds of content in three languages and two scripts, and its readers want different things: some follow their own city, others national or world news, and others read the printed edition as an e-paper. Readers also move between their phones and the web, so the news has to be the same wherever they read it.
What we built
A news platform where readers switch language from the header and choose their country and cities once, so local news for those cities sits alongside national and world sections. Stories are organised into topic sections, with videos, opinion pieces, blogs, horoscopes and a kids' corner alongside the news. A developer API makes the news available to other applications.
- City-wise local news: readers pick their cities and see local news for them.
- E-paper editions: the day's printed edition can be read online, by language.
- Video, blogs and newsletters: video reports, blogs, opinion pieces and a newsletter sign-up.
- Android and iOS apps: the same news in apps on Google Play and the App Store.
Technology and our role
Built on the Microsoft .NET stack. Our role: design, development, hosting and ongoing support.
The result
Readers get regional and national news in their own language, on the web and on their phones. We continue to support the platform.
